In Germany escorts industry leveled in its social status to other professions in 2002. At the moment formally it is no worse than the job of a cook or a teacher. Van der Lien suggested raising the age threshold of the escorts from 16 to 18 years as well as to implement criminal prosecution against clients of the escorts who do the job against their will. Where not knowing the law does not serve as a reason for the law not to be applied. Minister as sure: It is impossible not to notice signs of beatings on a girls body, her fear and uncertainty. “It is hardly possible that a man in this case would say “I was not aware”” – Van der Lien assumes.
